A Yume Nikki fangame made for Dream Diary Jam 8, 2024.
Control Yamaiko as she wanders a melancholy dreamscape. Learn more about her past and deep-set fears.
Ver 0.00 notes: Hotfix applied for major bugs, as well as revamps of some content.
Note: This is an extremely WIP prototype build that will be expanded upon in the coming months! I debated working until the July 3rd due date, but wanted to be able to stop thinking of deadlines and continue building the game at my own pace. Plus, I wanted to celebrate Yume Nikki's 20th anniversary with this release. The eventual goal is to complete at least 40-50 worlds for the game, so please enjoy this short proof-of-concept and keep an eye out for a future, more sizeable update!
Contains:
- 4 "nexus worlds"
- 12 total worlds
- 4 effects
- A few events to see
To install:
Download the .zip file, extract it and run the "RPG_RT" file to play. The game should run without rpgmaker 2003 RTP, but if not, please install and let me know in the comments!
(Lots of WIP unused content in this download, avoid project files if you don't want future updates spoiled)

really cool
So I played this game (found all effects eariler)
and I gotta say wow Proof of Concept for sure
If this gets updated a lot to have even more content then this needs to go on yno (just saying ;>)
I would love for that to happen! Hoping to triple the world size within a few months so make sure to check back
This is the first Yume Nikki fangame I have played that I think truely honors Kikiyama, Yume Nikki, and its history. I do enjoy derivative games, and am making one of my own currently, but this game has been the most enjoyable YNFG experience I've had as a fan. I am excited to see new updates to the game, follow Yumitsuki's story, and see how gen.loss develops. Thank you for creating something truely beautiful. Here are a few of my screenshots.

I managed to find all of the effects, they are all very beautiful.
Ahhh thank u so much! I appreciate u playing. I definitely have a lot more to add to it, many worlds in progress that just couldn't be completed for the Dream Diary Jam 8 deadline.
It was always my goal to create something fresh but still as close to the atmospheric vision of the original game as I could. My opinion has always been that these derivative works are at their best when they maintain an air of surreal melancholy, as I believe that's what made Yume Nikki leave such an impression on people. Future standalone, original games I create will also aim for a similar approach to atmosphere.
If you're interested in other works, outside of Yume Nikki I took the most inspiration from Yuque, Withers, and Yume Tsushin, my personal favorite fangames. I'm sure you'll enjoy them as well! :)
Excited to see what this is about. Looks great.
